Our Findings from Clerkenwell Design Week 2025
This week we had the pleasure of once again visiting the UK's leading design festival: Clerkenwell Design Week! With the sun shining down over London, we donned our bright pink lanyards and got to work exploring the streets of Clerkenwell peppered with exhibitions, showrooms, and installations in celebration of architectural design.
Here are our findings from our day at Clerkenwell Design Week 2025!
SS25 Inspired Colour Palette
As predicted, everyone was taking heavy inspiration from WGSN and Coloro's SS25 Colour palette. From window displays to upholstery, we found the same indigo blues, aqua greens, coral oranges, and sunflower yellows everywhere, transposed slightly to suit their purpose. It's so satisfying to see a cohesive colour palette across so many businesses - this surely should help customers to build beautifully blended spaces. These 4 colours in particular are fantastic for loud statement pieces in both interior and outdoors.
Woven Fabrics and Patterns
A huge trend in outdoor that was used all over Clerkenwell was the use of interwoven colours to create beautiful patterned fabrics. Ethimo UK was a brand that used this technique masterfully. Their scatter cushions featured zig-zag stitching that combined with alternating colour created an elegant stripe pattern. Their rope woven chairs used serene creams and blues in a cross formation to achieve a wonderfully soft and refined pattern around the piece. Using woven coloured threads for patterns elevates the look of fabrics immensely.
Deep Reds
We were delighted to find that Deep Red colours were continuing to pop up following our trip to Salone Del Mobile. Ethimo UK was, once again, a brand that showcased how this can be expertly used for outdoor furniture. The red weave and parasol stand out against the lush green surroundings whilst still maintaining grounding properties.
Spherical Seating
Dotted around the perimeter of showrooms were loads of cute little stools! Blob-like in form, they created cosy perching areas ideal for short chats or for a momentary rest between exhibitions. Spherical seating has always been a contemporary favourite for adding some whimsy and life to relaxing spaces.
Neutral is the New Grey
We noticed a significant decrease in grey furniture this year, with neutrals, browns and taupes being the clear base for furniture across all categories. It's safe to assume customers have grown tired of the dull and drab grey frames and fabrics and are looking to replace them with something with more warmth and familiarity with close ties to nature and the earth. With Mocha Mousse being the Pantone colour of the year, it's no surprise that a lot of brands at Clerkenwell took this as inspiration to create some understated yet opulent pieces.
